Mr. hare - The brand
Mr. Hare, the brand, was conceived in 2008 at a roadside Tapas bar in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Spain. Inspired by the woven shoes of the old gentleman sitting next to him, the brand's founder noted the style potential in tweaking what was a classic and simple footwear design. Five minutes later, Mr. Hare, the brand, was born, taking a total of 360 days to go from idea conception to shop-floor at Dover Street Market.
Labelled a 'black shoe company', Mr. Hare shoes are designed to make the wearer look fashion forward and completely in control at night. This does not mean the shoes are restricted to a black colour palette, nor does it mean they can't be worn in the day - it is merely a nod to Mr Hare's vision of wearing his designs during the evening whilst dancing, drinking, eating and dancing some more...
MR. HARE - THE MAN
Mr. Hare, the man, has a lifelong goal of living in a remote beach house where he can surf his older days away. He enjoys fresh air, food, love, white wine and dark rum (but not together), bespoke suits and camping. Although he has no formal training in shoe design or any form of design for that matter, Mr. Hare, the man, knows what he wants and exactly what he likes. He believes in making a small number of products expertly well for those who love them the most. Mr. Hare thinks this is the most ethical way to do business - displaying small pockets of expertise instead of indulging in quality-scrimping mass production purely for commercial gain.
MR. HARE - THE SHOES
Mr. Hare, the shoes, are handmade in Empoli, Tuscany and designed wherever Mr. Hare, the man, chooses. In future, the shoes will be made wherever the greatest manufacturer best suited to the task at hand is located. The daily operations of Mr. Hare, the man, the blog, the brand, happen in London.
Mr. Hare, the brand, believe that colour is good, nothing beats nice calf leather and being comfortable in your shoes is far more chic than intentionally forcing 'chic' in uncomfortable shoes.
In-keeping with the brand's personality, Mr. Hare shoes are produced in numbers that guarantee genuine rarity when you step out into the world. After all, why spend all that money on stylish, high-quality footwear just to be compliant?
