Just over 60 years ago, Dr. Martens rocked the world of shoe design by creating a revolutionary air-cushioned sole. Combining traditional shoemaking expertise with this innovative new sole, Dr. Martens created a shoe that would go on to become an icon, identified by its distinctive yellow welt stitch, a two-tone grooved sole edge, and canvas pull tab to the heel.
For AW16, Dr. Martens continues its tradition to evolve footwear design with a new collection of shoes designed for its latest generation of wearers. The Dr. Martens Lite collection takes the brand’s original DNA—the hallmark yellow stitching, grooved sides and heel loop—and transforms it into a new, lightweight boot cut with a contemporary, sleek silhouette. Each shoe in the DM Lite collection includes a lightweight phylon midsole, slimline rubber outsole, plus moisture-wicking SoftWair Technology to the insole for longer-lasting comfort.
Comprising three brand new styles, the unisex shoes in the Dr. Martens Lite collection are crafted from premium leather in black or cherry red colourways. The new lightweight construction is a game changer in the history of Dr. Martens, who arguably for the first time are transforming their traditional workwear boots for the street. The brand has long been a permanent fixture in the street style game, providing footwear for a whole cluster of subcultures throughout the past 50 years all intent on carving out their distinct individualities. We are excited to see how this new evolution of the brand will inspire the next generation of subcultures.
