How to Style Chunky Boots

It’s officially chunky boot season and as we dive head first into the autumnal seasons there’s no time like the present to switch to your heavy duty footwear. Providing us with optimal styling options as well as weather proofing our feet, they have been a staple on the runways season after season. A good idea all year round, boots on the chunkier side look as great paired with dainty dresses or summer shorts as they do with your winter wardrobe. If you’ve ever wondered how best to style chunky boots, we’re here to with all the inspiration you could ask for.

Dr Martens and Grenson boots

#1 Track sole boots

Track sole boots have stolen the show this season, with the thicker and sturdier platform sole integrated onto various styles of boots. From lace up and chelsea boot Dr Martens to hiker boots from Grenson we’re seeing the track sole lengthen our legs and give us a more styled up version of our winter boots. The track sole boot offers a long list of styling options, from midi and mini dresses to jeans and jumpsuits. Here is a selection of our favourites.

#2 Chelsea boots

The trusty chelsea boot has been revamped with a chunkier sole this season. Giving us height and sturdiness to our feet, we’re teaming our chunky chelsea boots with wide leg denim, slouchy knits and a trench coat for an off duty chic style.

#3 Chunky boots with dresses

Chunky sole boots teamed with a dress is one of our favourite combinations. Adding an edge to your look with contrasting feminine and masculine styles, the combo is a regular formula on the catwalks of fashion month. To nail the look, in the winter months wear a thin pair of tights over maxi dresses and layer heavy knits over the top to keep you toasty.

#4 Chunky sole boots with jeans

Looking great with both skinny and wide leg styles, chunky boots look great with jeans. If you’re boots are extra chunky we would suggest teaming with a wider shorter leg to ensure your look is in proportion and avoid making your feet look bigger than they are. If your boots are chunky but less on the OTT side, all fits of denim look great, from skinny to flared – the choice is yours.

#5 Chunky boots for men

Just as great teamed with men’s looks, chunky sole boots from brands like Grenson and Timberland are a must-have this season. Not only are they essential for their practicality, but paired with overcoats, hoodies and relaxed pants, the chunky boot is the finishing touch to your AW20 style that you’ve been looking for.
