Eight of the Best: Shoes for Autumn 2016

As we approach the end of August and the nights slowly begin to draw in, it can be a difficult period leaving behind the warmer days of summer for the colder autumn months. Fortunately for us shoe aficionados, this is a time we have been eagerly anticipating ever since the AW16 fashion weeks drew to a close back in February this year. This season’s most coveted styles are now on the shelf and you can finally begin orchestrating the outfits that will be seeing you through to 2017. But what are the trends, and the shoes, you should be buying into for this season? The AllSole team picks out eight of the best shoes for autumn 2016.

1. Sam Edelman Women's Taylor Leather/Suede Lace Up Court Shoes - Black

Buckles and particularly lace-up detailing are two of the hottest trends for this autumn, spotted across the catwalks in London and Paris for the AW16 season. Brands including Sam Edelman, MICHAEL Michael Kors and Senso are our go-to labels for the most elegant lace-up silhouettes this season.

2. Opening Ceremony Women's Slip On Platform Sneakers - White

Similar to the way in which flatforms that were rejuvenated as one of the biggest fashion trends for SS16, platforms are back in a big way this autumn. Standout platform styles come from brands such as Grenson, Vivienne Westwood for Melissa and Opening Ceremony for autumn 2016.

3. Kendall + Kylie Women's Ella Suede Lace Front Heeled Sandals - Black

Back in the limelight after a couple of seasons away, thigh high boots are a key style for autumn 2016. Heeled for a dressed-up look or flat for casual daytime styling, the thigh high boots trend has been picked up by the likes of Dune, Sam Edelman, Kendall + Kylie and Ted Baker to form some of their central pieces this autumn.

4. Dune Women's Petrie Suede Ankle Boots - Tan

Heels, particular block styles, will be your go-to look for AW16 whether heading to the office, out for a casual lunch or at the Christmas party. We recommend viewing the AW16 collections by Dune, Senso and MICHAEL Michael Kors for some of the season’s most coveted silhouettes.

5. MICHAEL MICHAEL KORS Women's MK Flex Leather Court Shoes - Pale Gold

A key trend for both AW15 and SS16, metallic footwear are proving to be something of a wardrobe staple as they return once more for autumn 2016. An easy means of giving an extra edge to your look during the dark, drab months of autumn and winter, some of the season’s best metallic styles come courtesy of MICHAEL Michael Kors.

6. Ted Baker Men's Theeyo3 Leather Cupsole Trainers - White

Sneakerhead culture continues to thrive in AW16 and more people are turning to sneakers for their versatility to take them from season to season. Some of our favourite trainer silhouettes for AW16 come from Saucony while Ted Baker showcases clean-cut trainer styles capable of dressing down your favourite suit for the office.

7. PS by Paul Smith Men's Falconer Leather Chelsea Boots - Black Oxford

A staple style for both men and women, Chelsea boots are more popular than ever for AW16. It’s not difficult to see why with the quality of boots from the collections of Paul Smith and Grenson for this season.

8. Toga Pulla Women's Buckle Side Suede Heeled Ankle Boots - Black

A sturdy boot built for tackling the harsh weather conditions of autumn and winter, biker boots have been restyled with fashion in mind for AW16. Belstaff continue to be the number one purveyor of the biker boot aesthetic for this season, but brands including H Shoes by Hudson and Toga Pulla are also tapping into the trend with fashion-forward biker-inspired boots.
